Science Centre Singapore (SCS) received a GlobalGiving education grant of USD $50,000 made in partnership with 3M for the ‘Girls Can Tinker’ program’ in 2021. The program was launched in April 2022. The workshops under the program were conducted from 2022-July 2023.
Also, in 2023, 3M Singapore has been part of several, external events as part of our outreach efforts and community engagements, including activities to promote the interest in STEM in Singapore:
– 3M Girls can Tinker (January to July 2023) – 254 students from 10 primary schools
– MOE Innovation Program (IvP), Ministry of Education (April to August 2023) – 50+ students
– DiscovHER, Science Centre Singapore (11 to 12 March 2023)
– UWSx3M STEM Workshop, United Women Singapore (18 August 2023) – 30 students
– POWERS Career Event for Female STEM Students (28 September) – Students from NTU
– SST-3M InnoScience Challenge, SST (20 to 24 October 2023) – 230 students
– United Women Singapore STEM Fest (4 Nov 2023) – 307 female students
In addition, 3M Singapore has contributed a significant amount of voluntary hours in various community engagements aimed at assisting needy families and other vulnerable groups in society. A few examples are:
– North-West Service weeks (14 January & 10 December 2023)
– Meals on Wheels (18th May 2023), meals to elderly
– Dignity Mama (25th July 2023), skills training for young adults with special needs
– Willing Hearts (14th Sep 2023), meals and support services to the underprivileged/needy
