Dow

Environmental protection took center stage for Dow in 2021 amongst other contribution projects including support towards the autism community and STEM education.
In June 2021, Dow was privileged to be part of the team that launched Singapore’s shoe recycling ecosystem, recognizing shoe waste as a permanent waste stream that can be repurposed into sports infrastructures. This also helped divert waste away from the landfill and aligning with the Singapore Green Plan. A target to recycle 170,000 pairs of used shoes annually had collected over 169,000 pairs (equivalent to 47 metric tons) as at April 2022, which, when recycled, becomes 7.5km of running track. A strong belief for a sustainable future for Singapore, collaboration among like-minded value chain partners and an open mindset of the general public brought about the success of this project.
Dow’s signature #PullingOurWeight clean up program to divert waste, specifically plastic waste away from the environment took a creative turn in its fourth year from land to the waters. Twenty-four Dow volunteers kayaked the Jurong Lake Gardens reservoir in November and picked up more than 80kg trash.
