In 2018, Gensler formed the Community Impact studio to take our community investments from a project-based approach to an impact-based approach. In order to build upon our history of pro bono services and volunteerism, and to focus our efforts around causes where Gensler can have the most impact, we created the Gensler Model for Community Impact.
The model consists of four themes as follows:
• Health and Wellness: Build healthy places that blend functionality and comfort and improve measurable health outcomes for the users.
• Environment: Build resilient and sustainable buildings, communities and cities. Develop innovative and sustainable practices to mitigate the effects of climate change and combat its root causes.
• Housing and Homelessness: Develop and create temporary and permanent housing solutions for urban communities facing the crises of homelessness, displacement and lack of workforce housing.
• The Next Generation: Actively support organizations and efforts that foster the well-being of children. Support the education and training of high school and university students for careers in architecture and design. Work to ensure a diverse and inclusive pipeline of future professionals.
• The 20%: For projects and activities that do not fit squarely within a theme.
Our Singapore office aspires to be contributers to our contributers to our community and city by focusing on healthcare for the foreign workers in the construction industry and mental health advocacy.
