Kemin’s charitable ethos traces back to our founders, R.W. Nelson and Mary Nelson. Guided by our purpose to improve the quality of life around the world, Kemin’s CSR efforts focus on four pillars: science and education, affordable housing and food security, sustainability, and vibrant communities.

As part of this commitment, Kemin volunteers hosted a CSR Movie Day for 65 seniors from Thye Hua Kwan Moral Charities at Shaw Theatres Balestier. For many seniors facing social isolation, the outing provided a rare opportunity to enjoy a cinema experience, some for the first time in years.

Around 30 Kemin volunteers, including members of the Leadership Team, each dedicated an average of three hours to support the event. Volunteers accompanied seniors from the activity centre to the cinema, assisted those with limited mobility, distributed refreshments and goodie bags, and remained attentive throughout the screening to ensure their comfort and safety. Seniors were safely escorted back to their coaches at the end of the event.

The initiative reflects Kemin’s culture of servant leadership and community stewardship, demonstrating how employees and leaders together contribute their time and care to create meaningful experiences while strengthening Kemin’s commitment to making a positive difference in the communities it serves.
