James is Vice President / General Manager Asia at Embecta, formerly part of BD and now one of the largest pure-play diabetes management companies in the world. His 20 years’ experience in the medical technology industry has seen him take on appointments spanning R&D engineering, global marketing leadership, business leadership and general management roles in APAC and EMEA. James is known for his business acumen, strong people agility, and his ability to lead and drive change under conditions of ambiguity and uncertainty.
Prior to embecta, James served as Vice President of the Diabetes Care business unit at BD. After the Diabetes Care business spun-off to become embecta, James led the business in Asia to two successive years of record-breaking growth. Before joining BD, James was the Global Marketing Director and Sales Director EMEA at MP Biomedicals, a leading provider of diagnostic products with global headquarters in California. James has also served as Sales & Marketing Director at Aeras Medical Pte Ltd, a medical solutions provider with a focus on diabetes diagnostics and management. Prior to Aeras Medical Pte Ltd he worked in LMA, a global leader and innovator of the laryngeal masks.
James received his Bachelor of Engineering from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and was subsequently awarded a postgraduate scholarship to read his Master of Engineering in the same college. During his time at NTU, he received a Young Inventor Award and co-authored a patent and several peer reviewed publications.
James serves on the Board of Directors at Love, Nils a IPC registered non-profit organization that supports children with cancer and their caregivers. He is currently chairperson of the Marketing and Fundraising committee at Love, Nils. James enjoys scuba diving, cycling, tennis and travelling with his wife Jasmine and two children Edmund and Helen.
