Paul Verhulst is the Vice President of Southeast Asia (SEA) at Medtronic, a role he has held since December 2024. He oversees operations across 15 countries, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.
With over 17 years of experience in sales, marketing, and consultancy, Paul has held various senior leadership positions across multiple business divisions and geographies during his 13 years at Medtronic, consistently driving growth and innovation.
He began his career with Medtronic (formerly Covidien) in Singapore in 2011 as Business Improvement Manager for Neurovascular and Peripheral Vascular in Southeast Asia. He later served as Country Manager for Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines & Guam, before becoming Senior Business Director for the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG) APAC in 2017. At MITG, Paul managed the P&L, sales, and marketing while leading the R&D center in Fukuroi, Japan. His portfolio included Renal Care Solutions and Gastrointestinal & Hepatology.
In 2020, Paul was appointed Managing Director of Indochina, where he and his team played a key role in navigating healthcare challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. By 2022, he was promoted to Vice President of Mainland Southeast Asia (MSEA), leading the region to serve over 340,000 patients in FY23 and establishing it as one of the fastest-growing regions in Asia.
As Vice President of Southeast Asia, Paul is dedicated to developing local capabilities, fostering strategic investments, and expanding access to healthcare to improve outcomes for patients across the region. In recognition of his unwavering commitment to ethics, integrity, and accountability, Paul was awarded the prestigious Medtronic 2024 Compass Award—one of the company’s highest honors.
Prior to joining Medtronic, Paul worked at New Frontier Solutions in Jakarta, Indonesia, as well as McKinsey & Company and Deloitte in the Netherlands. He holds a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Econometrics & Operations Research from VU University Amsterdam.
