Standard Chartered has been present in Singapore for over 160 years. As the first bank that has been awarded the enhanced Significantly Rooted Foreign Bank status, we aim to support charities and causes that are locally relevant while deepening our business presence here. Our corporate giving strategy focuses on community investment and employee volunteering.
Futuremakers is our global community initiative started in 2019 to tackle inequality and promote economic inclusion. We aim to build resilience of the future generation through education, employability and entrepreneurship.
In 2022, we launched the “Family Empowerment Programme” with AWWA and Temasek Trust, an income stability pilot using a Pay-for-Success model, to provide fixed cash transfers over 18 months to 75 low-income households. Silver Lining is our uniquely SG community initiative focused on addressing the issues of a rapidly ageing population. Since 2017, we have been partnering IMDA to promote digital literacy amongst seniors. Over 700 staff have helped over 46,000 seniors in this aspect. We donated S$1m to IMDA’s Digital for Life fund, which has been matched equally by the government to a total S$2m. Each employee has 3 days of paid volunteering leave annually.
In 2022, over 3,000 of our SG-based employees volunteered their time and skills to support various causes they are passionate about such as food packing and distribution, youth mentorship, environment conservation, digital literacy for seniors.
